The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) recently introduced an annual toll pass worth Rs 3,000 for private cars, jeeps, and vans, offering either 200 toll-free trips or one year’s validity. While many are still getting to know about it, one man has already made the most of it. His video shows how he took full advantage of the pass during an extraordinary solo road trip.
The video begins with a man, who is from Noida, proudly claiming that Nitin Gadkari should award him for being the first Indian to fully use the Fastag annual pass. Driving his Thar, he says he completed a solo road trip of nearly 11,000 km in just 25 days. During this journey, he visited 12 Jyotirlingas and the Char Dham temples, crossing 13 states across India.
Long Road Trip
The man explains that he started with 199 trips available on the annual pass and, by the time he returned, he was left with only 80. In other words, he crossed 119 toll plazas in just under a month. According to him, the toll for such a distance would normally be around Rs 15,000 to Rs 17,000, but thanks to the pass, he avoided paying that much.
He adds that it wasn’t completely free. On some routes, like the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, he paid separately because the annual pass didn’t cover it. He mentioned spending Rs 1,200 on tolls there and also extra money on diesel since he drove an additional 200 km to enjoy the road. Similarly, in Tamil Nadu and a few other places, he had to pay about Rs 2,400 in total. Still, he believes he made the most of the annual toll pass.
The POV text in the video reads: “First Indian to do this. Annual Toll Pass. 25 Din Me 120 trips Minus.” Its caption says: “119 Trips deducted from my Annual Toll Pass in the last 25 Days only. I was on my ‘12 Jyotirlinga and 4 Dham. Solo Roadtrip.’”

A person wrote, “What you’ve done is truly extraordinary… covering nearly 11,000 km across India in less than 30 days is not just a journey, it’s an achievement blessed by the divine.”
Another said, “Bhai, I have used 180 times, khali 20 trips hi bache hai. I have travelled to Rajasthan 8 times from Karnataka.”
Some, however, raised questions, like, “But isn’t the Annual toll pass supposed to cover all toll passes?? Fir ye extra charge kyun?” Others joked, “Wo apko award denge, diesel me iso butanol daal ke.”
Who Can Apply
According to NHAI rules, only non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans are eligible for the annual pass. A Fastag must already be linked with the vehicle’s registration number, and it cannot be blacklisted. Vehicles registered only by chassis number need to be updated before applying. Commercial vehicles like buses and trucks are not allowed under this scheme.
