The No. 20 Texas Longhorns enter Week 10 with a home game against the No. 9 Vanderbilt Commodores. While it has been a bit disappointing season for Texas, there is still hope on the horizon, and a win against Vanderbilt would certainly help. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is just one year removed from a College Football Playoff trip, but his name has surfaced in some NFL coaching rumors. Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that representatives for Sarkisian told NFL decision makers that the Texas coach would “be interested” in an NFL job. Sarkisian was not happy about those rumors, and his agents, Jimmy Sexton and Ed Marynowitz, also issued a statement calling such discussions “patently false.“ Now, Russini has responded to the back and forth involving the Texas head coach. “The reason that they came out strong against this is this is not good for Steve Sarkisian at Texas,” Russini said during “The Colin Cowherd Show. “I think he likes being the coach of Texas. I don’t have those doubts. But he has the most powerful agents in college sports for a reason.” “This is what Jimmy Sexton is paid to do,” she continued. “It is to make sure that Steve Sarkisian has all the options.” After the initial reports came out, Sarkisian was clearly not happy about it, either. “It really pisses me off that one person can make a report that in turn, the entire media, sports world runs with as factual,” Sarkisian said. “I thought it was absolutely ridiculous.” Yet, Russini is staying true to her reports, and it will be interesting to see how things turn out regarding these rumors.
