Stephen Robinson insists St Mirren are focused on Premiership points and not cup final prestige. The Buddies booked their place in next month’s Premier Sports Cup showpiece with Celtic after beating Motherwell 4-1. It will be the club’s first appearance in the final of the competition since they won it in 2013. Meanwhile, it will be Robbo’s third final in eight years after going the distance in both the Scottish Cup and League Cup with Motherwell. However, the tasty jam of a Hampden spectacular has been pushed to the side as Saints return to the bread-and-butter of league business with Hibernian in town tonight. “It was great,” Robbo reflected. “It was a really good performance. I think the game was closer than the score suggested. “I think Motherwell are a very good side. Jens [Berthel Askou, Steelmen gaffer] has done really well. Coming into foreign countries is really difficult, and I understand the league, and I think he’s done really well. “We had to dig in. We were very, very clinical. That was the difference between the cup and the league. We enjoyed the Saturday night. We had the boys back in again this week and they’ve been focused. “There will be no more talk of it until the week of the cup final. I’ve made sure of that with Keith [Lasley, chief operating officer] and the rest of the club; that we’re focused on the league. “We’re not in the position we want to be in. We have played really well and haven’t had either the luck you need to win games or been clinical enough to win games and that’s what we can control. “We look at that cup game and that’s the potential of the side. Now we have to start getting those results again.” Robbo looks set to make changes ahead of the Hibees visit with Mark O’Hara all but ruled out due to a foot injury which flared up after last weekend’s win. Keeper Shamal George is another doubt having not trained all week due to a niggle in his knee. Alex Gogic will serve the final game of a two-match ban. Robbo went on to say: “We’ve got good options everywhere but Mark will struggle. He’s had an injection in his foot and the three games in a week is probably just one too many for him. “We just have to look at Shamal so he will be touch and go. We will know more after training. If he doesn’t make it, he will be fine after the international break, and we hope it’s the same with Mark.” Don't miss the latest Renfrewshire headlines – you can sign up to our free daily newsletter here
