Hanson’s Mix Maine Media already owns two other stations that used to operate under King’s Zone Corp., WZLO 103.1 FM and WZON AM 620. WZLO has continued to broadcast this year, while WZON is expected to resume transmission by the year’s end. In early December 2024, Zone Corp. announced it would cease operating the three stations. King acquired WZON in 1983 and later bought WZLO and WKIT. He said at the time he needed to “get his business affairs in better order” and pull back his support for the radio stations he kept afloat for years. Later that same month, Solari and Hawes said they reached a deal to take over WKIT and keep it broadcasting. This year they moved WKIT from its decades-long home on Broadway to Franklin Street in downtown Bangor. Until the early 1990s, WKIT had broadcast from various locations in downtown Bangor. Solari and Hawes operated WKIT under Rock Lobster Radio LLC.
