Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors may have ended their two-game skid with a win over the Suns, but it was anything but convincing. The team looked drained throughout, struggling to find their usual rhythm. Curry, battling a severe flu amid a grueling early-season schedule, pushed through the illness, but he prompted his teammates to be cautious after the game. Despite battling illness, Stephen Curry powered the Warriors to a 118-107 win over the Suns with 28 points, five threes, four rebounds, and three assists. However, he looked visibly drained during the postgame presser, sniffling and coughing. When asked about his conversations with team management regarding rest, Curry said, “We’ve only had one. After facing the Sacramento Kings at home, Curry and Co. will play Denver, Indiana, followed by a back-to-back against the Thunder and the Spurs this week. This, naturally, is draining not just the Warriors’ starting 5 but everyone involved in the process. “If something pops up, a sickness or something that’s alien at Jimmy’s, I think it was his back, was it? Like you want to be cautious, but we’re trying to build momentum. That’s why those two games on the road hurt a little bit, but we’re all just collaborating,” Curry concluded. The Warriors’ point guard noted that playing seven games in the least 12 days over five cities has been quite hectic, and the road ahead isn’t smoother. The head coach didn’t hesitate, quickly taking action to protect his star player. Just after the Suns game, Kerr straight-up ruled out the veteran from tonight’s game. “Yeah, he’s wiped out right now. So, I don’t care what the doctors say. He’s we got to we got to get him some rest,” he told the reporters. “So, I’ll make the decision right now. He’s not going to play tomorrow. He needs some rest. He’s been sick. All the travel, everything was just caught up to him. However, it isn’t just Curry who Kerr decided upon; the Dubs head coach also stated that the team will assess Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, as he attested to his team being short-handed against the Kings. However, he did show full faith in his rotational players, as he hopes that his team will be able to get a result tonight at the Golden 1 Center.
