Steelers’ next opponent names starting quarterback after injury

The Minnesota Vikings will start quarterback Carson Wentz next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers as J.J, McCarthy nurses himself back to full health after suffering a high ankle sprain.
Wentz played well in the team’s 48-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. While powered by a standout defensive performance, Wentz went 14 of 20 for 173 yards and two touchdowns. After the game, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell gave Wentz praise.
“I do believe Carson Wentz, just, you know, a guy that came in, played point guard for us, ran the show. Was efficient. Hemade great decisions. He got through his progressions and did a lot of things to help theMinnesota Vikings win today,” O’Connell said.
Wentz was the franchise quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles at one point, and has plenty of experience. He spent last year backing up Patrick Mahomes.
O’Connell stated he did not want McCarthy to rush himself back as a young player.
“He’s responded well to the early part of the treatment, but for a young player, you know, I want to make sure that he’s healthy, especially a guy with the movement skills that he has and has shown in his first two outings,” O’Connell said.
So, the Steelers will prepare for Wentz and a Vikings team that has rounded into form after getting healthy. It will be a tough game for the Steelers, who are hoping to pull off a win in Ireland.
