Former Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl winning quarterback and legend Terry Bradshaw does not see the vision with the team’s roster building.
On top of that, Bradshaw says the team is far too complacent and will never move on from head coach Mike Tomlin, who he sees as a significant issue at the top of the hierarchy.
“They’re never going to fire Mike Tomlin. They’ve made the playoffs (a lot in his) 18 years, if he wins it, he’ll go again 19 years,” Bradshaw said to Yahoo Sports. “They don’t have the team. It takes offense, defense, takes it all, takes coaching. Every time they get great players and they do really well … you had Antonio Brown, the running back that signed with the Jets … all these guys are on their way to the Hall of Fame playing so great for Pittsburgh, but ‘I want my money’. They don’t get their money and they’re out of there. That’s why I wasn’t opposed to Dallas’ move (with Micah Parsons).”
Bradshaw added the team has not been a contender in over half a decade once players like Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown left.
He ties it to roster construction and the mentality the players have across the football team.
“They’re always competitive, but they’re past being a contender,” Bradshaw said. “They’re not a contender. They’re just not from what I’ve seen. They haven’t been a contender in five years.”
Pittsburgh has struggled to do anything other than make it to the playoffs and finish slightly over .500 each season. Tomlin has no losing seasons, but the Steelers are without a playoff win since the 2017 season.
