Steelers HC Mike Tomlin Reveals Major Update on Three Injured Stars

The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently 3-1 on the season, and the team has the makings of a repeat playoff contender. However, the Steelers have also been down three very important players for multiple games.

Alex Highsmith, cornerback Joey Porter Jr., and running back Jaylen Warren have all been out for multiple games due to various injuries. Highsmith has been out two games due to an ankle injury, Porter has been out three games due to a hamstring injury, and Warren was sidelined in Week 4 due to a knee injury.

Now, it appears that all three could be ready to go for the Steelers’ showdown with the Cleveland Browns.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spoke about all three, stating the “arrow is pointing up” on all being ready to go for Week 6.

“We’ll follow them throughout the week to make sure it continues to move in the appropriate direction,” Tomlin said, via Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “The same things could be said for Jaylen Warren. He missed the last game, but he looked really good yesterday.”

Warren was expected to have somewhat of a breakout season in 2025, but he has had a relatively quiet start. With three games under his belt, the young running back has secured 132 yards on the ground, along with 142 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The knee could be holding him back a bit, but it sounds like he is trending towards being healthy. Highsmith picked up nine total tackles and one sack in two games. His presence was being felt already, but the ankle injury stopped that.

Porter has seen limited action due to playing in only one game. However, it sounds as though his return is imminent.

The bad news is Tomlin also revealed that both Jalen Ramsey and Calvin Austin will be limited in practice, but the hope is they can all play on Sunday.
