Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Drops Surprising Hint About NFL Future

Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to move to 3-1 on the young season with a win over the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin, Ireland on Sunday morning.

While the Steelers dominated the game most of the way, the Vikings made a run late and gave them a scare. Despite the comeback from Minnesota, Pittsburgh ended up winning by a final score of 24-21.

Through the first four games of the season, Rodgers has been playing at a high level. He clearly still has plenty of good football left in the tank. In fact, he has looked happier and more energetic than he has looked over the last couple of years.

Following the game, the Steelers’ future Hall of Fame quarterback may have dropped a surprising hint about his NFL future.

Aaron Rodgers of Pittsburgh Steelers (#8) looks on following the NFL 2025 game between Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers at Croke Park on September 28, 2025 in Dublin, Ireland.

Coming into the season, Rodgers had suggested that he would be playing in his final NFL season. However, the start to the 2025 NFL campaign might be changing his mind.

Take a look at what he had to say after beating the Vikings and about “next year.”

Granted, it’s just a post-game video. Rodgers may still fully be planning to retire after the 2025 season concludes. Or, perhaps he is starting to consider the idea of another year with Pittsburgh.

More than likely, the Steelers would also be open to the idea of Rodgers returning in 2026. If the season continues forward as it has started, he’s still one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. Pittsburgh doesn’t have a clear succession plan in place either.

It will be interesting to monitor Rodgers as the season progresses. Will he be able to stay upright and healthy? Can he continue playing at the high level he has shown thus far?

Through four games, Rodgers has completed 68.5 percent of his pass attempts for 786 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions. Simply looking at those numbers, it’s apparent that Rodgers is feeling good and leading the Steelers well.

Next week, the Steelers will face off against the AFC North rival Cleveland Browns at home. Going up against the Browns will not be easy for Rodgers and the Pittsburgh offense, as Cleveland has one of the best defenses in the NFL.
