Per Jake Brockhoff of Steelers Depot, Pittsburgh Steelers insider Mark Kaboly of "The Pat McAfee Show" recently said that he feels there's a "50/50" chance that 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers will run it back with the Steelers for another season. During the latest edition of his "Not Just Football" podcast, longtime Steelers defensive lineman and team captain Cameron Heyward made it clear that he currently wants Rodgers to remain atop the club's depth chart through 2026. Cameron Heyward reveals how long Aaron Rodgers "should have a job" "Kudos to Aaron," Heyward said regarding Pittsburgh's 33-31 loss at the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 16, as shared by Joe Clark of Steelers Depot. "Big respect there. Dude needs to keep playing. That dude is one of a kind, and he should have a job as long as he wants." Much has changed since Heyward suggested in March that he was at least a little annoyed over Rodgers remaining a free agent through the start of the new league year. Rodgers ultimately joined the Steelers in June, and he later helped the club open the season with four wins in five games before he and Cincinnati's Joe Flacco produced an entertaining shootout that Pittsburgh lost. According to ESPN stats, Rodgers heads into Week 8 tied for fourth in the league with 14 touchdown passes on the season. He's 10th among qualified players with a 105.0 passer rating and 19th with a 55.0 adjusted QBR. Cameron Heyward wants Steelers focused on task at hand During an August appearance on Heyward's podcast, Rodgers teased that he could spend at least two seasons with the club as an active player after he previously said he was "pretty sure" he would retire following the ongoing campaign. It's unclear when Rodgers will make a final call about his playing future, but Heyward is trying to stay focused on what the first-place Steelers could accomplish over the next handful of months. "I gotta make sure we take care of business this year," Heyward added. If nothing else, Heyward's comments indicate Rodgers has been nothing but a positive for the Steelers as both an on-the-field offensive CEO and a behind-the-scenes leader. The future Hall of Famer will look to get Pittsburgh back to winning ways when the Steelers host the Green Bay Packers (4-1-1), his former team, this coming Sunday evening.
