Factory Records in Costa Mesa is hosting its annual 50% off sale in November. The nine-day sale from Nov. 1-9 features everything in stock, owner Dave James said. That inventory includes new and used albums, tapes, CDs and 45s. James said fresh stock also arrives all week long. If you wait until the last day, James said shoppers can explore his $1 parking lot sale. “This is the most popular event at our store, with massive discounts on thousands of albums,” he said. James will also have a buyer on hand during the sale, should customers want to sell their own vintage records. Address: 440 East 17th St., rear unit (ZIP 92627) Swim school coming to Yorba Linda Goldfish Swim School, a beginning swimmer school for young children, is coming to Yorba Linda. The franchise group Swimergy4 Yorba Linda LLC, operated by Parag Mehta, recently signed a lease at 20459 Yorba Linda Blvd., Suite G. Goldfish Swim School provides lessons and water safety instruction to infants and children ages 4 months to 12 years. The Yorba Linda school will feature a a “shiver-free 90-degree pool” and a viewing area for parents. The newest location is the second of three Goldfish Swim School locations for the franchise group, which opened another school inSanta Ana in August. So far, there is no location for the third. “My motivation as a Goldfish Swim School franchise owner is knowing that every day, we’re potentially saving lives. Children leave ourclasses happy and engaged while transforming into confident swimmers,” said Mehta. “We’ve seen tremendous success since opening our Santa Ana Goldfish swim school, and we look forward to bringing fun and life-saving water safety education to even more families with our upcoming Yorba Linda school.” The Yorba Linda school opens in late fall of 2026. Job opportunities will be available soon, Mehta said. The swim school operates other franchise locations in Aliso Viejo and Ladera Ranch. Gorjana opens 4th OC store this week The Laguna Beach jewelry maker Gorjana opens Oct. 30 at Brea Mall. Gorjana was created in 2004 by its namesake owner Gorjana Reidel, who makes “approachable, quality jewelry” in the style of the company’s home base. All the jewelry is plated in 18-karat gold. The company will have four locations in Orange County when the Brea store opens. The others are in Newport Beach, Irvine and Laguna Beach. Thrift opens in Foothill Ranch The Salvation Army opened a thrift store this summer in Foothill Ranch. The store features lots of clothing, home decor, household items and shoes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except for Sunday, when the store opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. The store also features a donation dropoff center. Address: 26662 Portola Parkway Miracles for Kids patrons raise nearly $3.5 million Grammy winner, singer and songwriter Jordin Sparks opened the 2025 Night of Miracles Gala, which raised nearly $3.5 million to benefit families caring for children with life-threatening illnesses. The event held Oct. 11 at the Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort featured silent and live auctions for the 400 guests assembled in black tie attire. The gala featured the Benitez Family, whose daughter was diagnosed with story leukemia when she was 4 years old. Miracles for Kids helped the family by providing support and a safe haven at Miracle Manor. “Thanks to our incredible community of supporters, families in crisis can focus on what matters most: their child’s health,” said Autumn Strier, co-founder and CEO of Miracles for Kids. Money raised at the event will go toward the nonprofits’ mission to help families “battling bankruptcy, hunger, homelessness and depression in the face of a child’s critical illness.” The organization says it is helping 438 families this year. Chapman is based in HNTB’s Santa Ana office, where she leads teams on highway, bridge and transit projects for clients in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. She brings to her role more than 30 years of experience in infrastructure improvements, including leadership roles on the State Route 91 Improvements from Acacia Street to La Palma for Orange County Transportation Authority; the Cajalco Road Widening in Riverside County; and the 15/91 Express Lanes Connector for Riverside County Transportation Commission. Orangewood Foundation hosted its 28th annual Ambassador Celebration, which honored the nonprofit’s work of the past year and unveiled its five-year strategic plan. The organization said it has raised $532,000 to date. The event honored Snyder Langston with the General William Lyon Vision Philanthropy Award for their work on several ventures helping children. Cissy Tubbs received the William G. Steiner Heart of Service Award for her hours of volunteerism. Orangewood’s five-year plan will focus on housing development and a goal to increase number of beds for young people by 250%. The Live Like Jojo Foundation raised $75,000 at its fifth annual Superhero Experience at the Outlets at San Clemente. The event brought 500 walkers, families and supporters to celebrate more than 33 “Superhero Kids.” The money will support children and families navigating critical illnesses. Live Like JoJo’s programs help more than 1,000 children and families across Southern California. The money raised also will help the foundation’s 2026 goals, which include sustaining the Sunshine Box Program for hospitalized children.
