By DayakDaily Team KUCHING, Oct 29: The Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office in Brunei Darussalam (STATOB) is collaborating with embassies and representative offices of other countries in Brunei, leveraging the nation as a regional hub to promote Sarawak as an investment and tourism destination. According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) news report, STATOB Chief Executive Officer Samat Junai said that through this initiative, STATOB is not only opening up trade and investment opportunities but also strengthening strategic networks that benefit the people of Sarawak and Brunei, particularly in the development of sustainable agriculture, aquaculture and tourism sectors. Samat highlighted that STATOB plays a strategic role in strengthening bilateral economic relations and providing a platform for new business opportunities. “STATOB connects investors, traders and tourism industry players with high-value opportunities across sectors, including food, renewable energy, green energy and the creative industries. “With close collaboration with the private sector, we can drive inclusive and sustainable economic development,” he said during the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) handover ceremony for the Rimbunan Kasih Sundar Project in Lawas on Tuesday (Oct 28). Since commencing operations in October 2024, STATOB has served as a critical gateway for Brunei-based importers, exporters and investors seeking to capitalise on economic opportunities in Sarawak. Also present at the event were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Brunei’s Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Dr Abdul Manaf Metussin. —DayakDaily
