Downtown Winston-Salem’s Benton Convention Center is the host of this week’s statewide conference focused on the current and future use of drone technology.
Among the participants in the first NCDroneCon, set for Monday and Tuesday, are keynote speaker U.S. Sen. Ted Budd, R-N.C., and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Besides presentations from innovators, drone industry officials and community stakeholders, there will be a discussion on how drones played a role in transforming emergency response and recovery efforts during Hurricane Helene.
Budd will speak in a fireside chat at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Budd is scheduled to discuss federal policy, national security and the regulatory landscape on the future of drone operations.
Mounts is owner of Piedmont Flight Training and a board member of AeroX, a non-profit organization formed in 2021 with the goal of creating and expanding unmanned aviation technology in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
