Staten Island Veterans Day Suit Drive: How to donate and get 50% off a new purchase

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — David & Co. Menswear, a luxe boutique located at 2955 Veterans Rd. West in Charleston, is once again spearheading a Veterans Day Suit Drive, collecting gently used suits from Nov. 9 to 15 – all of which will be donated directly to an organization that provides professional attire to veterans in need. “My grandfather fought in World War II, and his service has always inspired me to find ways to give back,” David Rabinowitz, owner of David & Co., noted last week during a press conference announcing the drive. “Through this program, we’re not just donating suits. We’re helping local veterans prepare for new opportunities and showing them that Staten Island stands with them.” Those who donate during the collection period will receive 50% off any in-store purchase of a new suit or overcoat. The donation program is part of collaboration between Rabinowitz, the Staten Island Performing Provider System, the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation, the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, and the Office of Borough President Vito Fossella. “Our mission is to bring together the military and civilian communities to support one another, especially our post-9/11 veterans,” noted Michael Matthews, director of Veterans Programs at the Staten Island Performing Provider System, often referred to as SIPPS. “The challenges they face, particularly around mental health, are significant, and we all have a role to play in addressing them. Young veterans experience suicide rates nearly three times higher than the general population. Programs like this not only raise awareness but also create real pathways for connection, healing, and hope.” All suits will be donated to SIPPS, which helps local service members look and feel their best as they transition into new opportunities. “By partnering with the Staten Island Performing Provider System, David & Co. is making sure these suits go directly to Staten Islanders who have served our nation and need them most,” said Mike Cusick, SIEDC president and CEO. Initiatives like this not only honor our veterans but also highlight the vital role local businesses play in strengthening our community.” Linda Baran, president and CEO of the Chamber, added: “It’s inspiring to see Staten Island’s business community come together with local partners to support our veterans in such a meaningful way. This collaboration shows the power of business to make a real difference.” To learn more about David & Co.’s donation program, visit https://www.davidandcomenswear.com/.
