Staten Island school ranks third in 2026 listing of top public high schools in NYC and New York state
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A Staten Island public high school is the third best public high school in New York state and New York City, according to a new 2026 ranking.
Niche, a website dedicated to ranking and reviewing schools across the country, released its list of the best public high schools for 2026. It included nationwide rankings, as well as state and local rankings. The rankings include updated data for more than 93,000 public schools, 30,000 private schools and over 11,000 school districts nationwide.
Staten Island Technical High School has ranked as the third best public high school in the New York City and New York state. It is also in the top 25 best public high schools across the country.
It received an overall Niche grade of A+, with top marks in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, diversity, college prep and administration.
It has more than 1,400 students in grades 9-12, with a student-teacher ratio of 19 to 1, according to Niche. State test scores show that 99% of students are proficient in math and 95% are proficient in reading.
It was also ranked fifth for Best College Prep Public High Schools in New York, and sixth for Best Public High School Teachers in New York.

This assesses a wide array of factors, providing a well-rounded perspective on educational institutions across the country, according to Niche.
