Staten Island comedian bringing ‘Damn Knicks’ to 2025 Tribeca Festival

Staten Island native Wellie Jackson will perform at Littlefield in Brooklyn on Nov. 16, bringing his comedy career full circle as he returns to perform near his hometown roots. Jackson, a lifelong resident of Mariners Harbor and former basketball star at Susan Wagner High School, has built an impressive entertainment career spanning television, film, and live performance. The comedian was recently named a headliner for the 2024 New York Comedy Festival, one of the most prestigious comedy festivals in the country. Since 2011, Jackson has toured extensively with Tracy Morgan, joining the 30 Rock star’s comeback tour “Picking Up the Pieces” for over 65 dates throughout the United States and Canada. The tour included performances at prestigious venues such as Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall, Chicago’s Civic Opera House, and The Novo Theater in Los Angeles. Jackson’s writing credits include Tracy Morgan’s Netflix comedy special “Staying Alive” and the TBS series “The Last O.G.,” which is currently the highest-rated comedy series on the network. He also performed dates on Tiffany Haddish’s “She Ready Tour” in 2017 and headlined The Apollo in May 2018. The entertainer has expanded his reach across multiple platforms. He co-starred in the final season of Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” and appears on Tina Fey’s “Girls5eva,” now streaming on Peacock TV. Jackson can also be heard nationally on “The Deja Vu Show,” a syndicated radio program that airs in most markets following the Steve Harvey Morning Show. His recent television appearances include Amazon Prime Video’s sports show “Gamebreakers.” Looking ahead, Jackson will star in the upcoming film “Damn Knicks,” which will premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival.
