Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - Reports indicate a traffic crash near Austin this morning resulted in serious injuries. The Minnesota State Patrol says the two-vehicle collision was reported around 9:10 a.m. on Highway 218 at an intersection just north of Austin. The preliminary crash report indicates a pickup truck was traveling north on Highway 218 when it collided with a small car that was crossing the highway at the intersection. Preliminary reports indicate the 71-year-old Austin man driving the car suffered serious injuries. His name has not been released. The driver of the pickup was identified as 41-year-old Nicholas Stacey of Hutchinson. He was not hurt. The State Patrol says his passenger, 66-year-old Thomas Stacey of Northwood, Iowa, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Austin with non-life-threatening injuries. A dense fog advisory was in effect in the region at the time of the crash.
