State Housing Company launches nationwide revenue mobilisation drive — offers 15% discount to debtors

By Felix cofie The State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has launched a nationwide Revenue Mobilization Campaign to recover outstanding payments from clients and strengthen its financial base, as part of efforts to sustain affordable housing delivery across Ghana. As part of the campaign, the company is offering a 15 percent discount on all outstanding financial obligations to clients who settle their debts in full between November 3 and December 31, 2025. Managing Director of SHC, John Bawah, announced the initiative at the company’s head office in Accra, urging all institutions and individuals indebted to the company to take advantage of the offer. “A significant number of our clients still owe the company hundreds of millions of Ghana cedis in unpaid fees — including overdue ground rent, land regularization charges, lease renewals, consents, and service charges,” Mr. Bawah revealed.“This campaign is not just about debt recovery; it’s about ensuring the sustainability of Ghana’s housing agenda.” A Call for Financial Responsibility Mr. Bawah emphasized that the State Housing Company, though owned by the Government and People of Ghana, is not a subvented entity. This means its operations are fully funded from internally generated resources. He noted that unpaid obligations weaken the company’s ability to deliver new housing projects, maintain existing estates, and create jobs across the housing value chain. “Every cedi paid strengthens our capacity to build more homes and expand housing opportunities for future generations,” he said. Scope of the Discount The 15% discount applies to: Ground rent Land regularization Consents to develop, assign, mortgage, or gift Lease renewals Service charges and arrears The offer covers SHC clients in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Sunyani, Tamale, Bolgatanga, Ho, Koforidua, and other parts of the country. However, the discount does not apply to house sales. Digital Convenience and 24-Hour Service In line with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of a “Ghana that works round the clock,” SHC also announced plans to open a 24-hour Premium and Express Service Centre before the end of the year. The new centre will provide fast, reliable, and customer-friendly services — including payments, documentation, and client support — with a 24-hour turnaround time for select transactions. Deadline and Enforcement The Managing Director cautioned that after the discount window closes on December 31, 2025, SHC will resume the application of full penalties, interest, and enforcement measures to recover unpaid obligations. “This campaign represents a window of relief and opportunity,” Mr. Bawah stressed.“Clients who fail to regularize their payments by the end of the year will face administrative or legal actions.” Supporting Ghana’s Housing Vision Mr. Bawah concluded with a call to action, urging all homeowners, landowners, and clients to support the company’s mission. “Together, we can build a culture of responsibility and sustain the State Housing Company as Ghana’s trusted housing developer under the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama,” he said. The State Housing Company, established nearly seven decades ago, remains Ghana’s leading public housing developer, delivering quality, affordable homes and sustainable communities nationwide.
