Karur: At least 10 people have died while dozens other are injured after a stampede occurred at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay's rally in Tamil Nadu's Karur, a TN Minister said. The stampede-like situation occurred after large number of people attended the campaign of TVK chief and actor Vijay in Karur. Several people fainted and were taken to a nearby hospital. A video has surfaced showing a sea of people present at TVK chief Thalapathy Vijay's rally. The crowd is visible for as far as hundreds of meters. Speaking from the roof of his election vehicle, Thalapathy Vijay was seen addressing the crowd that was cheering for him, while informing them that ambulances were on their way as several people were reported to be falling unconscious. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has asked his minister to rush to the scene and analyse the situation. In a post on X, CM MK Stalin informed about the worrying news adding he has asked his two ministers, District Collector to provide immediate relief to the deceased. "The news coming from Karur is worrying. I have called former Minister V Senthilbalaji and Minister Subramanian Ma, and the District Collector to provide immediate treatment to the civilians who have fainted due to the crowd and have been admitted to the hospital. I have also ordered the Minister from the nearby Trichy district, Anbil Mahesh, to provide necessary assistance on a war footing. I have also spoken to the ADGP there to take steps to improve the situation as soon as possible. I request the public to cooperate with the doctors and the police," MK Stalin wrote on X.
