Stalin virtually inaugurates mini-Tidel Park in Vellore

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the ₹32 crore first mini-Tidel Park at Abdullapuram village near the under-construction airport in Vellore on Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway (NH-48). Officials of Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), which will maintain the new facility, said that the four-story building will be part of the State’s initiative to establish such parks in Tier II and Tier III cities like Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Karur and Salem to boost job opportunities among educated youth in the region. “The new mini-Tidel Park in Vellore will generate jobs for at least 650 persons in the area. Similar facilities are being built in Tiruvannamalai, Thiruporur and Karaikudi,” a TIDCO official told The Hindu. Accompanied by Mayor Sujatha Anandakumar, Collector V.R. Subbulaxmi was present at the new facility to mark the occasion. Spread over 4.98 acres near the Sri Lankan Tamils Rehabilitation camp on the stretch, the mini-Tidel Park provides a floor space of 57,600 sq ft. In other words, more than 20 Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) firms can operate in the new facility. Each firm, on an average, will be given at least 1,000 sq ft to run its operations on a rental basis to garner revenue for the State exchequer. The multi-storey Park has an Integrated Building Management System (IBMS). It is a centralised system that connects and controls lighting and security, enabling unified monitoring and management. The system helps to enhance efficiency and reduce energy consumption. The entire facility is covered with CCTV cameras and sprinklers as part of a fire-fighting mechanism. Officials of Vellore Corporation said that Vellore town has better connectivity in terms of buses and trains to other districts and States. The town is also well-connected by arterial roads to neighbouring districts and metro cities like Chennai, Bengaluru and Coimbatore. Corporation officials said that heritage monuments like the Vellore fort complex will also attract investors and IT professionals, who visit the park, to make a quick trip to historical places, thereby boosting the local economy to grow. The mini-Tidel park also has food courts, a gym and boardrooms with centralised air conditioning. Diesel generators are also in place to ensure an uninterrupted power supply. The civic body will take care of water supply, roads and street lights in the new facility. At present, Salem, Thanjavur, Villupuram, Pattabiram near Avadi has such mini-Tidel parks while Kanyakumari, Tiruppur, Virudhunagar, Hosur and Nagapattinam will get such a facility in the coming months, officials said.
