St. Jude RC School Classrooms in Urgent Need of Repairs

St. Jude RC Primary School in Camalote Village is in urgent need of repairs as classrooms continue to deteriorate. The school is reporting that termites, bats, mold, and collapsing ceilings have created unsafe conditions that have left students and teachers at risk of illness.

The school says that for the past five years, the school’s walls, windows, and ceilings have been falling apart. Over the weekend, parents, teachers, and school management began tearing down mold-infested sections of the school.

Principal Shevon Mendez told Plus News that the classrooms have become a health hazard and that students and teachers who are frequently exposed to these conditions have been getting sick often.

The school administrators reported feeling abandoned and are now calling for urgent assistance from authorities, parents, and the wider public.

The school has reported this issue to the Ministry of Education and is seeking support to rebuild.

Anyone willing to assist can contact the school at 602-5257.
