Uganda Cubs head coach Brian Ssenyondo has picked up lessons from the painful loss to Panama in the U17 Dubai Youth Challenge 2025. In their final preparations for the global tournament, the Cubs have so far played two games, drawing one and losing the other, with one match left to play. Speaking after the 2-1 loss, Ssenyondo stated that the observed challenges can be solved before the main tournament. ”It has been a good game, and I think the boys played well. We conceded from a set piece, and it’s the second time we are conceding in that manner. Yes, it’s a new problem, and I’m confident it will be solved,” he stated. ”Over 90 minutes, I think we were the better team. We will have ourselves to blame because we created several chances and hit the woodwork several times, ultimately failing to convert our opportunities,” he added. ”It’s important to pick lessons and work on them as soon as possible. Hard luck to the boys, and I hope we can pick up three points on Tuesday.” The Cubs will be encouraged that they have scored in each of the games played; if the backline improves, maximum points can certainly be achieved. They play their final friendly game against Paraguay, another South American side, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
