SSC Warns Candidates Against Use Of Unfair Means, Says Malpractice Will Lead To Debarment

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has cautioned candidates that any attempt to cheat or use unfair means in its exams will result in strict action, including being banned from future recruitment tests.
In an advisory, the SSC said details of candidates already debarred have been published on its official website for transparency.
“The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) maintains a strict policy of zero tolerance towards malpractices in its examinations. Candidates are cautioned that any attempt to indulge in unfair means will invite severe action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 (PEA Act, 2024) and administrative measures such as cancellation of candidature and debarment from present and future examinations,” it said.
The commission added that advanced technology is being used to detect cheating in online exams. At registration, Aadhaar verification, local biometrics and facial recognition at entry and exit are used to identify impersonators. CCTV cameras and AI tools also monitor candidates to catch unfair activities.
SSC said even if candidates are caught cheating, their exam might not be interrupted immediately to avoid disturbing others. However, based on electronic evidence, their scores will not be processed, and they will be debarred later.

Candidates have been asked not to write answers on rough sheets for later, not to peek into others’ computers, and not to lock Aadhaar biometrics as verification is mandatory.
“All candidates are once again warned not to indulge in any malpractice. The Commission is committed to ensuring fair and transparent examinations,” the SSC said.
The SSC is one of the biggest central government recruiting bodies, responsible for selecting staff for non-gazetted posts in ministries and departments.
