SRM University-AP has declared a two-week holiday with immediate effect, starting from November 7, 2025, onwards, following reports of suspected food poisoning among a section of students. The decision comes as part of a comprehensive sanitisation and hygiene enhancement initiative aimed at ensuring student safety and campus well-being. According to a university statement, released late on Thursday (November 6, 2025), all private and public spaces on the campus will undergo deep cleaning, fumigation, and disinfection during the break. The preventive drive also includes third-party inspections, food safety audits, and the engagement of professional sanitation teams to reinforce hygiene protocols. Regular classes are scheduled to resume on November 24, 2025, once the sanitisation process is completed. The university reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety, assuring students and parents of a health-secured environment upon reopening. Meanwhile, Guntur District Collector A. Thameem Ansariya has constituted an inquiry committee on November 6, 2025 comprising senior district officials to investigate the alleged food poisoning incident and the subsequent hospitalisation of students from the campus.
