Mysuru, Oct. 25 – City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar inaugurated the newly built auditorium at Sri Vani Vilasa Ursu Education Institutions of Sri Jayachamaraja Ursu Education Trust, near Kuppanna Park, Nazarbad in city yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Latkar said, “Erstwhile Mysore kingdom remains etched in the mind of the people, for implementing hundreds of pro-people initiatives. The descendants of the royal family, have been continuing the service-oriented initiatives. Now, the auditorium has been built, with the purpose of encouraging education of the needy.” Mysore Royal Family Member Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, the patron of the Trust, said, the school and college was started with the emphasis on women’s education. “In the year 2018, the responsibility of constructing the college building fell on my shoulders, envisioning the dream of my husband Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar. Now, the institution has been striding ahead on a better path. I appeal the students to tread on the path laid down by the royal family members and keep their achievements as an inspiration to touch academic heights,” said Pramoda Devi Wadiyar. Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, who is also the Trust President, said, the institution has got its present shape with the hard work of Pramoda Devi Wadiyar. As a continued effort, the auditorium has been built, which was very much essential for academic activities. “The Maharanis of our kingdom in the past hold the distinction of conserving the custom and traditions. They have made significant contributions, following which, this institution shall be developed further,’ assured Yaduveer. Listing the contributions of Maharanis, Yaduveer said, Maharani Lingajammani contributed for building Lingambudhi lake, so also Maharani Devajammani, who built Varuna Lake, the original name of which is Devambudhi Lake. Senior Journalist and SOM columnist Gouri Satya and Trust Vice-President Dr. Bharathi Sridhar Raje Urs and Secretary Mahesh N. Urs were present.
