Sr. Joanna Carroll CSJ Obituary

Sister Joanna Carroll, CSJ, was born in Lynwood, California, to William and Eleanore Carroll. She was the cherished youngest daughter in a family of six children. Baptized and raised in Our Lady of Victory Parish, she developed an early love for faith, family, and community that would guide her throughout her life. A devoted Sister of St. Joseph of Orange, Sister Joanna professed her final vows on August 1, 1982, dedicating her life to teaching, spiritual guidance, and the service of others. She earned degrees in Child Development, Religious Formation, and Pastoral Studies, and ministered with love and compassion in elementary classrooms, parish communities, and as a mentor and vocations coordinator for her congregation. Since 2002, she joyfully served as Campus Minister and Spiritual Director at Loyola Marymount University, guiding students and colleagues in their spiritual journeys. Her life was marked by a profound commitment to faith, education, and the building of community. Sister Joanna is remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to nurturing others in love, faith, and service. Sr. Joanna’s celebration of life will be on November 18 at 10:30 AM in the Sacred Heart Chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange, followed by interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in loving memory of Sr. Joanna Carroll to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange Ministry fund (440 S. Batavia St., Orange, 92868).
