Square Enix has confirmed incoming layoffs and closures as it prepares to once again restructure its US and other Western businesses. Where rumors had been running about Western office layoffs already, the group itself recently put up a financial presentation that confirmed the decision to lighten its presence overseas and re-prioritize resources back in its home business in Japan. The company posted said financial presentation on its investor relations website this week, sharing details about the layoffs coming down the line: Western operations for Square Enix have been on the downtick for quite some time. The company sold off many of its Western studios, including Crystal Dynamics, Eidos, and Square Enix Montreal, in 2022. It has also been forced to re-prioritize before, moving from exclusives to multiplatform releases following slow early sales on Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth.
