EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - It was a busy and varied day of sports action in the Chippewa Valley Saturday. At the state volleyball tournament in Green Bay, Regis fell in the state championship match to Heritage Christian. Rib Lake claimed the Division 5 title. On the soccer pitch, UW-Eau Claire’s men’s team claimed their second straight WIAC title with a 1-0 win over UW-Stevens Point. In WIAC football action, #8 UW-River Falls dominated #9 UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire fell to #14 UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout came up just short in their upset bid over #12 UW-Platteville. UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stout women’s basketball teams got their seasons underway at the UWEC Tipoff Tournament.
