Sports Doctor Shares Positive Prediction on Giants' Cam Skattebo's Injury

New York Giants star rookie running back Cam Skattebo was the talk of the NFL world on Sunday for all the wrong reasons after going down with what appears to be a season-ending leg or ankle injury in the team’s Week 8 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Skattebo’s injury happened in the second quarter when attempting to haul in a pass from quarterback Jaxson Dart, as his ankle got caught underneath Eagles linebacker Zach Baun. Right away, it was quite clear that the rookie running back would likely be forced to miss significant time with the injury, as Fox opted not to show a replay of the injury based on just how gruesome it truly was. Skattebo was ultimately carted off the field with the injury. During halftime of the game, prominent sports doctor David Chao took to social media to break down the injury. Chao didn’t mince words about the injury, making it clear that Skattebo will almost certainly miss the remainder of the 2025 season. However, he did share an encouraging prediction about how well Skattebo will be able to recover for his second season in the league. The good news is, I do expect good recovery for next season. This is more of an Alex Smith type injury, or an Aiden Hutchinson type fibula fracture than Fred Warner’s ankle fracture and dislocation. Don’t worry, as long as there is no infection, surgery and smooth recovery. Hopefully that will be the case for the exciting Giants running back.” #HalftimeInjuryChat NFL Week 8 – Cam Skattebo Leg/Ankle https://t.co/dnthv4cjQg— David J. The Giants organization will certainly be hoping that Chao’s prediction is an accurate one, as the former Arizona State product has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting and productive young players in all of football. Coming into Week 8, Skattebo ranked inside the top five in football in rushing touchdowns with five on the season, the highest of any of the Giants skill position players. Fortunately for the Giants, the team does have an incredible player behind Skattebo in second-year running back Tyrone Tracy, who put up over 1,000 all-purpose yards last season. So hopefully, Tracy can capitalize on the newfound opportunities he will receive following this injury and help soften the loss of Skattebo for the rest of the 2025 season.
