COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Halloween at South Carolina Oncology Associates is more than just costumes and candy- it’s a long-standing tradition that brings joy, laughter, and community to patients and staff alike. For more than two decades, SCOA has hosted its annual Halloween celebration, and each year the event continues to grow. This year featured creative team themes, including the “Cancer Crushers,” inspired by the Savannah Bananas, a lively speakeasy setup with Michael Jackson, musical throwbacks, and even a visit from Elvis. The celebration transforms the clinic into a place filled with laughter and color- a refreshing change of pace for patients and families who often spend their days in a more serious environment. Staff say it’s one of the most anticipated events of the year because it lifts spirits for everyone involved. Patients, families, former patients, and even local school groups joined in to trick-or-treat, enjoy the decorations, and see their caregivers in costume. Beyond the fun and competition, the Halloween celebration is a reflection of SCOA’s team spirit and commitment to compassionate care. Staff say that moments like these strengthen their relationships and remind them that caring for patients goes far beyond medicine.
