SpiceJet Appoints Ex-IndiGo Senior Executive Sanjay Kumar As Executive Director From Nov 2025

SpiceJet has named aviation veteran Sanjay Kumar as its Executive Director, effective November 3, 2025, the airline said in an exchange filing. Kumar will spearhead the carrier’s strategic growth, operational efficiency initiatives, and business transformation efforts. He will report directly to Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh. Kumar brings over 30 years of aviation experience, spanning network planning, revenue management, marketing, and commercial strategy. He previously spent nearly 12 years at IndiGo as Chief Commercial Officer and more than three years as Chief Strategy & Revenue Officer. His career also includes leadership roles such as President & CEO at InterGlobe Technology Quotient and COO at AirAsia India. “I am excited to re-join SpiceJet at a pivotal time in its journey… I look forward to driving expansion, improving efficiencies, and delivering greater value to customers and stakeholders,” Kumar said. Ajay Singh welcomed the appointment, stating that Kumar’s deep industry knowledge and proven leadership will help accelerate SpiceJet’s growth and reinforce its customer-centric approach. The announcement comes shortly after the airline reported a Rs 234-crore net loss for Q1 FY26, compared to a Rs 158.18-crore profit a year earlier. Revenue from core operations fell nearly 36% YoY to Rs 1,059.88 crore in the April–June quarter. Despite financial pressures, SpiceJet plans to operate 250 daily flights in the Winter 2025 schedule — significantly higher than the 125 flights in the summer schedule and 150 flights last winter.
