The Health department has announced the launch of special women’s wellness clinics in all 5,415 people’s health centres on Tuesdays.
The clinic will focus on encouraging women to pay more attention to their own health and seek medical opinion early rather than wait for complications to set in.
The idea is to guide women through issues such as fatigue, anaemia, diabetes, hypertension, gynaecological and reproductive health issues, cancer screening, and help them cope with peri menopause and menopause.
The women’s wellness clinics will be formally launched on September 16, Tuesday.
Health Minister Veena George, in a Facebook live address on Friday, appealed to all health workers to encourage women to come to the clinic and check themselves out
She appreciated the efforts put in by all health workers in helping the State bring down the infant mortality rate to a record low
She said women’s health had to be at the centre of all health-related activities. The special early cancer screening campaign launched on February 4 had brought many women to the health centres to get themselves screened. Till now, over 18 lakh persons had undergone cancer screening.
