SPAR Mallusk has picked up a prestigious award recognising the store’s dedication to providing an efficient and outstanding customer experience thanks to its level of services and products offered. The store won the Northern Ireland 4mlpa category at the national Forecourt Trader Awards in London, with judges praising the store, which is operated by Mallusk-based Henderson Retail, for its “strong focus on maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and customer service”. The judges also recognised the level of service innovation as a standout achievement for the store. It is a food to go destination, boasting a coffee to go Barista Bar drive thru, alongside a full Delish food to go offering including a Pizza Bar and Chicken Pick n Mix, with easy online and app ordering available, providing even more efficiency for the huge number of workers in the area. Judges noted such innovations “improve site footfall, provide new employment opportunities and increased basket. Such success has laid the groundwork for future innovation across the site.” George Rankin, retail director at Henderson Group added: “SPAR Mallusk has continued to deliver for the large business community in the area for the past three years, while we have continued to be innovative with the services available on site. "It is a busy forecourt, giving us the opportunity to expand services even more since opening in 2022, not only within the food to go and forecourt services, but with our range of fresh and local products available throughout the shop. “To be recognised as one of the best at a respected national awards ceremony is a fantastic achievement for the whole team.” Henderson Retail has also achieved awards success in recent weeks, bringing home three wins from the national Retail Industry Awards, which were also held in London. The company was named Food to Go Retailer of the Year, Forecourt Retailer of the Year and Convenience Retailer of the Year in the Multiple categories, while also named Highly Commended in the Community Retailer of the Year category. In addition, McCammond’s SPAR, Abbots Cross in Newtownabbey was successful in two categories at the Retail Industry Awards: Post Office Retailer of the Year and Most Improved Store. Judges heaped praise on the award-winning store, stating the Abbot’s Cross store is “nothing short of remarkable”. Judges also praised the scale of investment, strong financials and impressive aesthetic improvements, declaring the store a “benchmark example of what can be achieved within a short timeframe”.
