The Spanish government has announced the cancellation of a massive contract worth nearly €700 million with the Israeli company Elbit Systems for the purchase of advanced Precise and Universal Launching Systems (PULS), Youm7 reported.
This is the second deal to be canceled in September, following the termination of a €270 million contract for Spike missiles from Israel’s Rafael company – bringing the total value of canceled deals to approximately €1 billion.
According to Israeli media reports, the contract was first signed in October 2023 as part of the “SILAM” program—a Spanish project to domestically produce advanced rocket launchers.
The project included 12 launchers, radars, drones, and support vehicles, all based on Elbit’s PULS technology.
The system, developed by Elbit Systems (formerly known as Israel Aerospace Industries), is known for its firing precision up to a range of 300 kilometers, mobility, and flexibility.
It was designed to be integrated with local production in Spain by a consortium of companies, including Escribano Mechanical & Engineering and Rheinmetall Expal Munitions.
The plan was to begin delivering the launchers and training missiles in 2024, with live weapons to follow starting in 2025.
The report described the PULS system as a “star” in the global market.
