NORMAN — Oklahoma football moved up two spots from No. 7 to No. 5 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday, following Week 5 of the 2025 college football season.
That ties OU’s highest ranking achieved under fourth-year head coach Brent Venables. The Sooners were also No. 5 in the country in the Week 7 poll during the 2023 season.
Oklahoma is the second-rated Southeastern Conference team in the latest poll. Ahead of OU is No. 4 Ole Miss. Behind the Sooners are No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 9 Texas, No. 10 Alabama, No. 12 Georgia, No. 13 LSU, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 16 Vanderbilt and No. 19 Missouri.
OU is 4-0 with ranked wins over Michigan and Auburn. The Sooners come out of their first bye week of the season to face Kent State at 3 p.m. Saturday in Norman.
