Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore Signs Attawalpa, Lena Dunham's Husband

Attawalpa, the musical project of Luis Felber — who co-created and was behind the music for wife Lena Dunham‘s Netflix series “Too Much” — has signed with Sonic Youth guitarist Thurston Moore and Eva Prinz’s indie record label Daydream Library Series.
The London-based South American multi-instrumentalist will release a Dolby Atmos-mastered version of Attawalpa’s second record, “Experience,” via Daydream Library Series on Friday on Apple Music, Amazon Music and Tidal.
“It is with a mutual respect and understanding of the surround sound technology, we trust Luis Felber with his articulate insight of height channels and free-moving sound objects to interpret his already gorgeously spaced-out album ‘Experience’ with three-dimensional objects with neither horizontal nor vertical limitations,” Moore said in a statement, with Prinz adding: “The Daydream label remains focused on digital releases. We are working with digital signal processing platforms to continue to explore technologies which intend to improve upon the quality of distribution/streaming and interactions of our artists’ recordings, storytelling and art.”
“Too Much” featured several Attawalpa tracks performed by Will Sharpe, including songs from “Experience” like “Always the Girls,” “True Love Trajectory” and “No Limitations.” In an interview with Variety about lending his music to the series, Felber said Sharpe gave the songs “a sort of Echo and the Bunnymen vibe,” adding: “He’s an incredible learner, and I think all you have to do is meet someone at their place of taste.”
Of signing with Daydream Library Series, Felber said: “As a lifelong fan of his guitar wielding, songwriting, iconic cultural contribution and all around craft, I understandably flipped out when I received a text from Thurston saying how much he was enjoying my album ‘Experience.’ It’s beyond a pleasure and an honor to be a Daydream Library artist. I love each and every artist and release they have put out. Here’s to the future of guitar music and here’s to Attawalpa’s Dolby Atmos Experience.”
