A Lewiston man has been indicted on child sex abuse charges. Though circumstances for the charges are sealed due to secrecy of the grand jury process, Nez Perce County prosecutors dropped the same charges last month. Those charges followed allegations from two children who attended a Lewiston day care. Logan Fonnesbeck, 25, was indicted on two counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16, felonies. Fonnesbeck will be arraigned on the charges Dec. 4 by Judge Michelle Evans in Nez Perce County’s 2nd District Court in Lewiston. Prosecutors are barred from talking about the sealed charges until after the Dec. 4 arraignment. On Oct. 1, prosecutors dropped identical charges against Fonnesbeck, saying they would refile. Those charges were dropped after a hearing where Fonnesbeck’s attorney, Jeffery E. Nona of Boise, complained he was getting information from prosecutors late. He also argued that Fonnesbeck’s accusers — two preschool-age children who attended Little Rock Daycare Center in Lewiston — should not be allowed to testify over a live video instead of open court. He argued the grand jury process was a better method for this kind of case. When the original charges against Fonnesbeck were dropped, prosecutors told the Lewiston Tribune they would refile charges alleging Fonnesbeck sexually abused the children in 2020 while Fonnesbeck was living in a room at his mother’s day care center. The day care center is no longer in business.
