Son Kills Dinesh 555 Beedi Tycoon In Drunken Rage, Then Takes His Own Life In UP

A 50-year-old man allegedly shot dead his father, the millionaire owner of the well-known Indian Dinesh 555 beedi brand, before killing himself in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh. Police said the fatal incident stemmed from a heated argument over the son’s drinking habits. The deceased businessman, Suresh Chand Agarwal, was the founder of the Dinesh 555 beedi brand, which he established in 1977 and grew into a multi-crore enterprise operating across Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Agarwal, who had been battling cancer, reportedly lived a quiet life in Vrindavan in recent years. What police said? According to police reports, Agarwal’s son Naresh Agarwal had long struggled with alcoholism, which had caused repeated confrontations between father and son. On Friday, another dispute broke out between the two at their residence. In a fit of rage, Naresh allegedly drew his licensed revolver and shot his father at close range. Moments later, apparently realising the enormity of his act, Naresh turned the gun on himself and fired a fatal shot to his head. Both men died instantly, police confirmed. Authorities arrived soon after being alerted by neighbours who heard gunshots. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and the firearm has been recovered from the scene. “We are investigating all angles, including the sequence of events and the mental state of the accused before the incident,” a senior police officer said. Beedi empire Suresh Chand Agarwal’s Dinesh 555 brand remains a prominent name in the traditional tobacco industry. His death marks a tragic end to a legacy that spanned nearly five decades, leaving behind both a thriving business and a family shattered by loss.
