Somersfield Celebrates Student Success
Somersfield Academy highlighted student achievements from across our Montessori and International Baccalaureate [IB] programmes saying “these successes speak to the hard work of our students, and also to the commitment, care, and expertise of our dedicated staff.”
CAT Results
A spokesperson said, ”Students in P4 to M2 achieved remarkable results in their recent Canadian Achievement Test [CATs], scoring an average of two years above their grade equivalencies. Our M3 and M4 students also excelled, scoring 1.5 years above their grade level. These results are a powerful indicator of the strength of our teaching and learning environment, and of our students’ growing confidence as independent thinkers.”
Janice Outerbridge, Head of Primary, said: “We are thrilled with our students’ CAT results this year, it is a real reflection of their curiosity, hard work, and the strong foundation we are building in the early years. It’s wonderful to see our students grow in confidence and readiness as independent learners.”
Middle Years Programme E-Assessments
A spokesperson added, “We welcomed our largest-ever cohort of students sitting the MYP E-Assessments. There was significant individual success, particularly among students with higher support needs.”
Cathy Schlei, IB Coordinator, said: “This year’s MYP cohort demonstrated remarkable perseverance and growth. Their achievements, including Somersfield’s first-ever Bilingual Certificate and successful completion of 16 assessments across 10 subjects, reflects what can be accomplished when compassion meets high expectations.”
Diploma Programme
A spokesperson added, “We also proudly celebrated our fifth graduating class, and the outcomes speak volumes about their talent and dedication. 94% of our graduates received offers from their firstchoice universities, an incredible testament to their hard work and the personalised guidance they received throughout their IB journey.
Notable highlights:
“85% of our highest grades were above the world average. We offered 20 exams across 13 subjects. Largest graduating class so far.”
Charlie Judd, Head of Secondary, said: “The IB Diploma is a demanding programme, and this year tested our students in new ways. With an inclusive admissions approach that welcomes a broad range of learners, these accomplishments are a powerful reminder of what young people can achieve when they are supported and challenged.”
