The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, toured the Kigali Genocide Memorial on Sunday, October 26. The tour was part of his two-day official visit to Rwanda, which began with his arrival in Kigali on Saturday evening. During the visit, Minister Abdisalam paid respects to the victims of the 1994 genocide and learned about Rwanda’s efforts toward unity and reconciliation. During his tour, the minister observed exhibits outlining the tragic events and learned about the memorial’s efforts in preserving history while emphasizing the importance of education and dialogue in promoting reconciliation and fostering national unity and highlighting the role of collective memory in strengthening social cohesion and supporting peacebuilding initiatives.
