Social Security SSI Update: Why There Will Be No Payment in November

Beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will see an adjustment to their payment schedule in the coming weeks, the US Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed. The SSI payments are usually sent out on the first of every month. However, the payment for November will arrive a day early. Why? Because November 1, 2025, falls on a Saturday, which is according to the standard policy when payment dates fall on a weekend or holiday. As a result, recipients will receive two deposits in October — on 1 October and 31 October — and no payment in November itself. The SSA said the adjustment ensures that payments “never land on weekends or holidays,” maintaining uninterrupted financial support for beneficiaries. Who Receives SSI? More than 7.4 million Americans, including adults, disabled individuals, and low-income households, are supported by SSI. The benefit helps cover rent, food and utilities. Adults earning more than $2,019 per month typically do not qualify for SSI, though around one-third of recipients also receive Social Security benefits. Next Payment Date After October Following the early October payment, the next SSI deposit will arrive on Monday, 1 December 2025, according to the SSA's payment calendar. The agency has advised recipients to plan accordingly, as the late-October payment will need to cover November's expenses. Other Social Security payments — including retirement, survivor, and disability benefits — will follow their usual schedule based on recipients' birth dates: November 3: Dual recipients or those who began collecting before May 1997 November 12: Birthdays from the 1st–10th November 19: Birthdays from the 11th–20th November 26: Birthdays from the 21st–31st Will Government Shutdown Impact Payments? The SSA has stated that Social Security and SSI payments will not be affected despite a government shutdown as these are protected under mandatory federal spending and do not rely on annual congressional budget approvals. Key Dates to Remember Next SSI payments: October 1 and October 31, 2025 No SSI payment: November 2025 Next payment after that: December 1, 2025 Social Security payment dates: 3, 12, 19, and 26 November 2025 Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from US News and around the World.
