The SNP has won a council by-election after the previous Labour councillor was jailed for sexually abusing a young woman . Labour fell to third behind Reform UK after their vote collapsed . David Graham was jailed for 27 months this year for sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl over a six-month period . He had been elected a Labour councillor but he was later an independent. His jailing led to a by-election in the Buckhaven, Methil, Methilhill & Wemyss Villages ward and the SNP have taken the seat from Labour. The Nationalists secured 42.6% of first preference votes, down 4.9 points compared to 2022. Nigel Farage’s Reform UK won 28.9% but did not stand three years ago. Labour won 20.8% of first preferences, which was down 19.5 points from the last council election in the ward.
