Is Smriti Irani’s television comeback show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, ending soon? This question has been plaguing everyone’s minds since there was buzz about the show going off-air soon. Hiten Tejwani, who plays Karan on the show, recently addressed this speculation. Hiten revealed that while he is unaware of when the show is ending, it was always meant to be a limited series. “I have no idea about what’s happening because I’m not shooting regularly for the show. If I were on set more often, I might have more clarity or updates. But since I’m only there for a few days and then return to the US, I don’t have any information about whether the show is going off air or not,” he said in a chat with India Forums. “When we got the call for the project, it was mentioned that this wouldn’t be an infinite series like before. It was supposed to have a limited run. I don’t know what decisions the channel or the production team might be considering now,” Hiten added. There has been speculation that the show might conclude early next year. However, there is no official confirmation of this yet. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ruled television in the early aughts, making Tulsi a household name. In 2025, the second season of the iconic show made a comeback and has been in the news ever since, be it for its plotlines or the return of its original cast. The show made headlines recently and shocked the internet when Bill Gates made a cameo in the Smriti Irani show. Smriti has consciously tried to weave social issues into the narrative, consistently highlighting topics like ageing and body shaming that affect women every day. Staying true to the show’s relevant themes and storyline, the plot surrounding Bill Gates’s cameo focused on the health of pregnant women and newborns. In an interview with CNBC-TV18, the former Minister for Women and Child Development shared her thoughts on the cameo. She called it a “historic moment” for Indian television. She added, “For far too long, women’s and children’s health has remained on the margins of mainstream dialogue. This initiative is a powerful step towards changing that.” She continued and explained that to be able to bring “one of the world’s most respected” global voices to the iconic show is much more than merely a collaboration. She said, “It is the start of a Jan Andolan, a people’s movement rooted in awareness, empathy and action.” The viral cameo happened around Diwali and quickly caught everyone’s attention.
