Sky Sports: Liverpool Doing 'Everything' to Sign 'World-Class' Star for Slot

Liverpool are ‘giving everything’ in their efforts to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi on a free transfer next summer, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has revealed.
The reigning Premier League champions are reportedly in ongoing talks to land the England international after the season, but may face competition from several European clubs in the race.
Plettenberg claims both Barcelona and Bayern Munich have concrete interest in signing the 25-year-old, while Guehi is also waiting to see whether Real Madrid will make a move.
European sides may have an advantage over Liverpool at the turn of the year, as they will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with Guehi in January, when his contract enters its final six months.
Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, is believed to have expressed strong interest in the defender, who is considered a potential replacement should either Dayot Upamecano or Kim Min-jae leave.
Liverpool Remain Keen on Marc Guehi
Plettenberg, writing on X, revealed that Liverpool are not giving up in their efforts to sign Guehi on a free transfer next summer, with talks ongoing regarding the 25-year-old defender.
Guehi was close to joining Liverpool during the final hours of the summer transfer window, but saw his £35m move collapse as Palace were unable to sign a replacement in time.
Oliver Glasner is thought to have played a key role in keeping Guehi at Selhurst Park until at least January, when Palace will face a slightly weaker negotiating position.
Guehi, who joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021, has established himself as one of the Premier League’s top central defenders, with some even praising the 25-year-old as ‘world-class’.
The England international captained Palace to their first-ever major trophy last season, lifting the FA Cup, and also triumphed in the Community Shield in August.
Palace enjoyed an unbeaten run of 18 games in all competitions before falling 2-1 to Everton last weekend, dropping them to sixth in the league table.
Liverpool also suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Chelsea before the international break, marking their third loss in a row.
Summer business at Anfield saw the Reds break their transfer record twice with deals for Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, while Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike also joined the squad.
