With just a few short weeks to go until Black Friday, many shoppers’ heads are turning to which deals to spend their hard-earned cash on. Black Friday falls on November 28 this time around, but as we’ve seen in recent years, many retailers kick things off early. The likes of Shark , Ninja and Argos have already launched their Black Friday sales, and we’re expecting Sky to join the fray soon. The brand is yet to announce when its Black Friday sale will start, but as it began on November 7 last year, it may be just around the corner. Although nothing is confirmed at this stage, we can get a rough idea of what to expect in Sky’s sale by looking back at its 2024 offerings. It’s worth noting things will look a bit different this year, as Sky refreshed all of its TV packages following last year’s sale. It also made them cheaper, with the £26 Sky Stream and Netflix bundle replaced with the £15 Essential TV bundle . With this, customers get more than 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic, as well as free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions. Sky will also throw in an extra £35 channels for £7 for shoppers opting for the £22 Ultimate TV bundle . Last November, the old Sky Stream package was slashed from £26 to £19 per month, saving shoppers £168 – and while Sky’s TV plans look a little different now, we could expect something similar this year too. With Sky’s latest deals on the way, we’d expect Virgin Media to be not far behind. Virgin’s plans are usually more pricey than Sky, but they also include more TV channels and faster broadband speeds. For example, while Virgin’s most expensive Max Volt bundle comes in at £84.99 per month, it comes with more than 230 channels, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and 1,130Mbps fibre broadband, plus an O2 SIM with Unlimited data, minutes, and texts. Sky has also run several deals on its flagship Sky Sports package this year, including throwing in its £6 Ultra HD add-on for £1, so football, Formula 1 and rugby fans should watch this space for more price cuts coming soon. There’s been plenty of goings on with the Sky Glass range since last November too, with two new models released earlier this year. They’re also more affordable than last year, with prices even cheaper than the Black Friday 2024 deals. Shoppers now have a choice between the Sky Glass Air or Sky Glass Gen 2 , with prices starting at £6 and £14 respectively when taken alongside a Sky TV package. Simply put, these prices total £21 or £29 with Sky’s Essential TV bundle , but if last year’s sale is anything to go by, we could be about to see them fall. Sky’s Black Friday 2024 sale saw the original Sky Glass package slashed by £9 per month, so fingers crossed for a similar deal in the coming days. Sky Glass is a premium rival to Freely, the free platform that comes built into smart TVs from countless brands. The service allows viewers to watch live and on-demand TV channels over WiFi, and is available with models like the 50” Hisense 4K UHD Freely TV AI TV , currently down from £399 to £269 at Amazon. There’s also likely to be savings across Sky’s broadband plans , whether signing up for a TV and broadband bundle or simply broadband on its own. Last year, we saw the Sky Stream and Full Fibre 150 broadband plan fall to its ‘lowest price’ ever of £38, while the comparable Essential TV and 150Mbps Full Fibre Broadband bundle currently costs £35. This could mean another price cut on the popular package is incoming. Throughout the year, we’ve seen Sky launching a raft of deals, including discounts and doubling the internet speeds on certain plans – such as offering 300Mbps for the price of 150Mbps – so it wouldn’t be a surprise if a similar deal is available for Black Friday. One caveat to Sky’s contracts is its annual price rise, so bear in mind that the price at sign-up will rise each April. Nothing is confirmed yet, but earlier this year Sky increased its TV and broadband prices by 6.2%, so prospective customers should factor that into their decision-making.
