Skip Bayless puts Kevin Stefanski on stand demanding answers over Shedeur Sanders’ absence as Browns lose 27-20 to Jets

Popular sports commentator Skip Bayless has called out Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski for ignoring Shedeur Sanders again in the Browns’ Week 10 loss. Stefanski stuck with Dillon Gabriel again under center as the Browns faced the New York Jets on Sunday. As the Browns failed to secure a win for the seventh time this season, Stefanski is now under fire from fans and analysts. Bayless added his voice to the growing discontent surrounding the coach’s controversial choice to leave Sanders out of the starting lineup.Bayless posted on X, decrying the coach’s decision not to play Shedeur Sanders despite a poor run of form by Gabriel. He wrote:“How much longer do I have to watch Dillon Gabriel dink and cunk and clunk … and lose, even to the Jets … before Shedeur gets his turn???”Skip Bayless @RealSkipBaylessLINKHow much longer do I have to watch Dillon Gabriel dink and dunk and clunk ... and lose, even to the Jets ... before Shedeur gets his turn???Stefanski did not waste time after Sunday’s loss before declaring his continued faith in Gabriel, remarking to the press:“We’re gonna stick with Dillon. Obviously, this is a young player. We have to play better as an offense.”The Browns’ loss to New York sent the team tumbling to 2-7 at Week 10, adding to Cleveland’s woes this campaign. Gabriel is the second quarterback occupying the starting role for Stefanski’s team this season, following Joe Flacco’s departure. The former Oregon quarterback competed for a place in the Browns’ quarterback hierarchy with fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders in preseason camp. The Colorado alum made Cleveland’s 54-man roster behind Flacco and Gabriel in the quarterback depth chart. However, his hope of getting playing opportunities has not materialized so far, even after Flacco was traded out by the Browns.Dillon Gabriel reacts to potential replacement by Shedeur SandersWith the calls to get him replaced getting louder, Dillon Gabriel has reacted after the Browns’ Week 10 loss to the New York Jets. Speaking after the game, the rookie quarterback maintained that while change might become inevitable if results persist, there have been improvements. He said:“When things aren’t going well, there’s always going to be change. That’s part of it because if you keep doing the same thing and don’t change anything, that’s insanity. But I feel like at times there’s things that went well and we sustained and executed, and then in certain moments we didn’t execute, and that starts with me.”Gabriel ended the game with 167 passing yards and two touchdowns.
