SJTA Suspends Three Puri Srimandir Sevayats for Misconduct, Reaffirms Discipline at Srimandir

According to an official statement, Suara Badu Sevayat Narayan Panda and Khuntia Sevayat Rajaram Khuntia have been suspended for two months under Section 21(A) of the Shri Jagannath Temple Act, 1955. The suspension comes after reports of illegal money collection from pilgrims near Bahar Katha and physical altercations among the sevayats over the collected funds, which disrupted order within the temple premises. In a separate case, Mahasuar Sevayat Bena Mahasuar has also been suspended for two months for instigating the use of vanaspati ghee inside the temple, an act prohibited within the sanctum. Temple Administration Statement The SJTA has warned that any attempt by the suspended sevayats to disturb temple order, directly or indirectly, will lead to an extension of suspension and further disciplinary action. Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Chief Administrator of SJTA, emphasized that: “No sevayat or individual will be spared if found obstructing rituals or the smooth darshan of devotees. All servitors must cooperate in maintaining the discipline, decorum, and sanctity of Srimandir.” The administration reiterated its commitment to preserve the spiritual environment of the temple and ensure a peaceful and respectful experience for all pilgrims.
