Kuwait, November 04 (QNA) - The Sixth Gulf Conference on Cybersecurity Challenges, hosted by the State of Kuwait under the theme "Secure Digital Environment," commenced Tuesday with the participation of leading experts and specialists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. In his opening remarks, Head of the Human Resources and Information Technology Sector at the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior Brigadier Anwar Al Yatama emphasized that the conference is being held amidst escalating challenges and risks in the field of cybersecurity. Al Yatama stressed the need to strengthen Gulf cooperation and the exchange of expertise to protect digital infrastructure and enhance national capabilities to confront the rapidly evolving threats in this domain. He added that cybersecurity has become a fundamental pillar of national security and sustainable development. He noted that the conference aims to discuss the latest developments and prospects for joint cooperation in protecting the Gulf cyberspace. For her part, Head of Kuwait's National Cybersecurity Center Eng. Abeer Al Awadhi stated that the conference is a continuation of the GCC's approach to confronting cyber threats and reflects Kuwait's commitment to its digital security and the stability of its cyberspace, especially amidst the rapidly evolving technological challenges facing the world. Al Awadhi emphasized that the accelerating pace of complex and sophisticated cyber challenges globally requires all nations and institutions, to be highly prepared and ready to fce these threats and work towards building a secure and reliable digital infrastructure. She pointed to the importance of strengthening joint cooperation among the GCC countries and integrating efforts to develop comprehensive national strategies capable of keeping pace with technological advancements and effectively addressing the growing cyber risks. The conference aims to discuss the most prominent emerging challenges in cyberspace and enhance joint Gulf cooperation in building national capabilities to counter the increasing digital threats, given the rapid developments that necessitate integrated efforts and the exchange of expertise in this vital field.
