Six Foot Tide lead singer to sing at Charleston Battery game

Athletic prowess and creative songwriting will collide when a Charleston band shares the spotlight with local soccer team the Charleston Battery. The Six Foot Tide lead singer Eric Richard will take to the field to perform the national anthem ahead of the USL Championship match on Sunday, Nov. 2. The matchup will see the Charleston Battery compete in the Eastern Conference's Quarterfinals at their home field located at Patriots Point and will be broadcasted live on CBS' sports network. For such a young group, the opportunity to be recognized alongside one of the oldest continuously operating soccer clubs in the United States is a major achievement and the band recognizes it as the start of a great collaboration. “Both soccer and music bring people together,” Richard said in a press release. “The Battery is a cornerstone of Charleston’s culture, and it’s an honor to share in their biggest event of 2025 so far. We’re proud to stand with them and celebrate everything this city represents.” After the final whistle, and hopefully a win for the home team, the full band will perform at a private after-party for players, families and staff — continuing the celebration in true Lowcountry style. A homegrown Charleston band that started roughly a year ago, The Six Foot Tide fosters a sound blending roots, rock and Americana into what they define as “Coastal Americana.” “You are able to hear the wind flowing through the marsh grass and the tides in our music," Richard told The Post and Courier.
