Síomha Ní Ruairc had a rather embarrassing run-in with her father-in-law recently, all thanks to a prank gone wrong! The TG4 presenter opened up about the hilarious moment she attempted to show off her new purchase, an Amazon Alexa, to her husband, Cathal Pendred's dad. Síomha, who is currently expecting her first child with her Cathal, was innocently showing her father-in-law how their new Alexa works when she asked the technology to call out their shopping list. However, the Virgin Media host didn't realise that Cathal had swapped out their everyday groceries for something much less fit for his father's ears, in an attempt to prank her. Síomha recalled the moment the Alexa began listing our sex toys, telling her co-hosts Louise Cantillon and Doireann Ní Ghlacáin on their podcast How To Gael. View this post on Instagram 'I was like (to Cathal's dad) she has a shopping list, and I was like, "I'll show you. Alexa, what's on the shopping list?" and Cathal starts pissing himself laughing,' Síomha explained. The ladies bleeped out the actual contents of the list that Cathal constructed, but fans made an educated guess at what the words were. 'Cathal was there, like crying, and I asked him, "Why didn't you stop it? Like you knew this was coming,' she recalled. 'He did it to be funny (to me).' 'I feel like this would have been funny (a few years ago) when Alexa first came out, not like (in 2025) when we've moved on with technology, but my husband hasn't, so maybe it was his actual shopping list,' Síomha laughed. Just over a year on from their gorgeous wedding, Cathal and Síomha revealed that they are expecting their first child together in July. Naturally enough, the gaeilgeoir announced the happy news as Gaeilge as she proudly showed off her scan and revealed when their little one was due. She wrote: 'Leanbh nua ah teacht ar an saoil mí Eanáir 2026', which translates to 'New baby coming into the world in January 2026.
